Heavy-duty construction machinery is designed to withstand the rigours of large-scale, high-intensity construction jobs. Examples of heavy construction machines include: construction excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks, motor graders, and cranes. Heavy equipment performs all of the tasks associated with all stages of construction, including transporting enormous loads of earth, lifting extremely heavy products, preparing construction sites, and aiding the development of infrastructure.
Each type of heavy-duty construction machine is powered by either diesel engines or newer low-emission diesel engine technology. The development of these technologies has allowed heavy-duty construction machines to operate at full capacity and performance continuously. Hydraulic systems in heavy-duty construction machines have been developed to provide precise control over the operation of the machine, and allow for increased power when performing tasks such as lifting and/or digging. Heavy equipment is also built for operator comfort, safety, and visibility, allowing operators to operate most machines for long periods of time comfortably and safely.
